Melita is a yoga teacher and sound healing practitioner. Sound healing uses vibrations and frequencies from various instruments to relax your mind and body. Research shows that sound healing alters brainwaves to a relaxed, dreamlike state lowering heart rate and blood pressure. The parasympathetic nervous system is activated allowing the body to rest, restore and repair.
All you need to do is lie down in a comfortable position and listen to the sounds from the Tibetan & crystal bowls, gong, chimes and other instruments. Make sure you wear plenty of layers as your body temperature is likely to drop as you relax, bring a blanket too.
Sound healing is not suitable if you are in the first trimester of pregnancy. Those with sound-induced epilepsy should consult their doctor to ensure sound healing does not cause seizures.
